Business activity in October showed moderate growth – CERR
In October 2022, the Business Activity Index (BAI), calculated by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, amounted to 1,022 points, and, compared with the previous month, increased moderately by 2.2%. And there is also a 9 percent increase in BAI compared to the same period last year.
The following changes were observed in the BAI components
The Business Activity Index in October 2022 increased moderately by 2.2% compared to the previous month and amounted to 1022 points, which is explained by changes in the following components:
- the number of transactions on bank accounts of business entities increased by 3.5%;
- the component of operating economic entities increased by 0.5%;
- the intensity of the purchase of raw materials on the commodity exchange increased by 0.1%;
- the component of trademarks increased by 27.7%.
In the regional context, the Bukhara region showed the highest growth
In October 2022, the Business Activity Index for all regions increased compared to the previous month. Significant growth was observed in Bukhara (52.0%), Kashkadarya (45.8%), Khorezm (44.9%), Samarkand (41.5%), Surkhandarya (41.1%), Syrdarya (39.2%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (43.8%).
TRANSACTIONS WITH BANK ACCOUNTS
The number of interbank payment transactions in October 2022 amounted to 5,713.8 thousand and increased by 191.8 thousand transactions (an increase of 3.5%), compared with September 2022.
The number of banking operations in 13 regions has increased.
In October 2022, the number of banking transactions between legal entities increased in 13 regions compared to the previous month. In particular, the most significant growth was observed in the Jizzakh (17.1%), Syrdarya (13.3%), Bukhara (13.0%), Kashkadarya (12.6%) and Navoi (11.6%) regions. In the Ferghana region, there was a moderate decline of 0.8%.
ACTIVITY ON THE COMMODITY EXCHANGE
In October 2022, the exchange component of the BAI was 1.0010. This means a moderate increase in the component level by 0.1% compared to the previous month, which is due to an increase in the number of transactions by 1.3%. At the same time, the average physical volume of goods purchased in each transaction decreased by 1.1%.
At the UzEx, the total turnover in October 2022 amounted to 6,438.4 billion sums, which is 2.1% less than in the previous month.
ACTIVITY OF ECONOMIC ENTITIES
The component of operating business entities in October 2022 amounted to 1.0101, which means that the component increased by 1.0% compared to the previous month. This indicator also has a positive value in relation to the same period last year with an increase of 9.7%.
The number of operating business entities in October 2022 increased by 2,947 units compared to the previous month of 2022 (621,960 units) and amounted to 624,907 units.
The number of large enterprises increased by 24 units.
During the reporting period, the number of small enterprises increased from 509,720 to 512,637 units (an increase of 2,917 units). Also, the number of farms increased from 108,627 to 108,633 units (an increase of 6 units). The number of operating large enterprises amounted to 3,637 units, which is an increase of 24 units compared to September 2022.
BRAND REGISTRATION
In October 2022, the index of protected trademarks was 1.2718, which means an increase of 28.2% compared to the previous month. In October of this year, 262 trademarks and trade names were registered by legal entities.
